FABULOUS, RARE 1930s Art Deco Bauhaus Christian DELL Black Industrial Desk Lamp REWIRED

£395.00

Stunning vintage, Kaiser Idell 6556-T style industrial black desk lamp. An original Bauhaus creation.

It was designed by renowned Christian Dell in 1931. It has a striking but unusual stepped ‘Art Deco’ designed iron base.

The lamp has been re-wired and PAT tested with a sympathetic black twisted cable. It has a fully adjustable pivoting head as well as height adjustable side arm. The swivel joint at the base of the stem makes the whole lamp tiltable.

Christian Dell was a German silversmith and designer, best known for his desk lamps. He studied silversmithing at the Saxon College of Arts and Crafts in Weimar where he graduated in 1913, before working at the Bauhaus in 1922 as a foreman in their metal workshop until 1925, when the Nazi party took control of the area.

His career really took off in 1926, when Dell began sketching lamps for Gebr Kaiser & Co - they launched their first catalogue in 1936.

In ‘as found’ original condition. It has some scratches on lamp head but adds character authentic patina. Funky Edison-style energy bulb included.

Would make a practical & stylish bedside or reading lamp over a desk or side table.
