Anglo-Indian Queen Victoria Empress of India Cheese Dome with Tigers & Kangaroos
£195.00
Striking, 19th century large white decorative ceramic royal memorabilia cheese dome.
The butter dish depicts Queen Victoria as Empress of India (1876-1901) with two colour transfer print portraits. Curiously and controversially there are two different colour images on the sides depicting shooting tigers in India, the other hunting wallaby’s or kangaroos in Australia. There is no maker’s mark.
The plate has a scalloped edge with a portrait of Queen Victoria. There are two holes either side enabling you to hang it up as a picture. The main dome has a decorative handle and highlighted in gold. Overall a stunning piece and in great condition for its age.
